Take our course 💡
Our ISA-95 course teaches you how to apply ISA-95 through a series of hands-on modules. While our written guides provide a more conceptual view, the course is designed to get you learning by doing.
In it, you’ll:
- Learn how to model material, equipment, and personnel across different data sets and scenarios
- Model the processes for a simple greenfield plant at all granularities
- Apply the resource and process modules to schedule production across the planning cycle, from ERP operating schedules to individual dispatched orders.
What to expect
Here’s the theory behind our course philosophy.
Lots of practice
Each time a new ISA-95 entity is introduced, you’ll practice incorporating it into your model. We encourage you to experiment, rearranging the puzzle pieces until they fit―even guessing when you don’t know. Don’t worry, you’ll get feedback about the wrong answer and have chances to redo questions. The standard is logical; as you practice, you’ll gain an intuition for to how “translate” a manufacturing concept into ISA-95 entities.
Scenario-based
The other principle of this course is that all the lessons try to be grounded in plausible, real-world scenarios. On its own, the standard is totally abstract. This makes its models extremely flexible, but hard to imagine in use.
Our goal is to give everything an example use case and business context. Incorporating some narrative makes the lessons more approachable and―we hope―more memorable. But this also has the effect of simulating how you’d apply ISA-95 in the real world. Where possible, we even try to incorporate real manufacturing datasets found in the wild.
Training based on real experience
At Rhize, we’ve spent a lot of time training new hires from a variety of disciplines. And what we’ve discovered time and again is that there is no better way to learn the standard than to practice it. The standard has all the theory you need, and our own docs have some approachable explainers, but there is no substitute for practice.
